China Mobile posted operating revenue of CNY 388.9 billion for the first six months of 2017, which represents an increase of 5 percent from the year-earlier period. Revenue from telecommunications services amounted to CNY 348 billion in the first half, up by 6.9 percent year-on-year, according Telecompaper. Revenue from wireless data traffic reaching CNY 187.7 billion, accounting for 50 percent of the telecommunications services revenue. EBITDA reached CNY 140.7 billion, up 4.7 percent in the period, while profit rose 3.5 percent year-on-year to CNY 62.7 billion in the first half of 2017. China Mobile ended June with 867 million mobile customers, representing a net addition of 17.61 million in the period. The total number of wireline broadband customers was 93.04 million, representing a net addition of 15.42 million. 
 
In the first half of 2017, China Mobile increased its total number of 4G base stations to 1.65 million. With a net addition of 58.62 million 4G customers, the total number of 4G customers reached 594 million and the 4G penetration rate of mobile customers was 69 percent in the first half of 2017. The company also reports it is on track to achieve its target of a net increase of 100 million 4G customers this year. China Mobile launched VoLTE high definition voice services in 313 cities, with the total number of customers exceeding 98.73 million. 
 
China Mobile’s wireline broadband customer base saw a net addition of 15.42 million users, bringing the total number of wireline broadband customers to 93.04 million at end-June. The company targets a wireline broadband customer base of more than 100 million by the end of the year. Revenue from the wireline broadband business increased by 49.8 percent year-on-year to reach CNY 17.9 billion in H1. Broadband ARPU rose 4.6 percent year-on-year to CNY 34.9 in the first half. 
 
China Mobile also reports it currently serves 5.90 million corporate customers. The company saw a 25.3 percent year-on-year rise in corporate telecommunications and informatization services revenue, accounting for more than a third of the total market.  
 
China Mobile’s board has declared an interim dividend of HKD 1.623 per share, or a dividend payout ratio of 46 percent, in accordance with the 2017 full-year dividend payout ratio guidance. This year marks the 20th anniversary of China Mobile’s public listing. The company’s board has declared payment of a one-off special dividend of HKD 3.200 per share in celebration of the 20th anniversary.
